Bregje van Veelen

Bregje van Veelen is an Assistant Professor at the Lund University Centre for Sustainability Studies in Sweden. She is a social scientist with research expertise is in the field of low-carbon transitions, focusing on how different low-carbon pathways emerge, evolve, and to what effect. She has previously studied the roles of different stakeholders – from local communities to institutional investors – in driving low-carbon transitions, and to what extent these new governance arrangements can be considered democratic and just. Her current research focuses on how a ‘Just Transition’ can be achieved for workers and residents in places where high-carbon industries are (potentially) closing.
